Bill and Ted and Simon Singh

The problem word in Singh's text is 'bogus', used to describe chiropractic treatments of certain illnesses.  Let's check the definition:

fraudulent; having a misleading appearance

This surprised me.  I have not used 'bogus' in that sense for a long time.  In the 1980s a different usage of 'bogus' appeared in the USA - it meant 'broken' or 'useless', with no implication of deception.  This use was seen in the great "Bill and Ted" movies. 

I wonder if what this case illustrates is the consequence of a generational and cultural shift in the meaning of words.  But there is bad law involved if this has become a legal issue.
